Growing up it didn't occur to me that there was an industry where people talked about video games outside of Nintendo Power. After high school I didn't have a core group of nerds anymore to talk shop with so I turned to the internet to talk about games/geek culture. I started blogging, just babbling about things that interested me. I started working with TheGamerGirls.com in early 2007. We did a show called GGTV that lasted a few weeks.

After that I started writing for GamePro magazine and GameGirl.com. They found me on myspace, noticed I liked to write about games, and asked me to write for them. I've been writing for them since 2007. I've also written/still write for Pwned.com, GirlGamer.com and TheStartScreen.com.

In 2007 Brian from TheStream.tv asked me to do a new show he was working on called The Game Show. I host, produce, write and now edit it. Working on live interent tv has become one of my favorite parts about this "job." My friends Heather and Amanda from TheStartScreen.com and I recently started doing an audio podcast, Control This. We talk about all aspects of geek culture. In September I will be starting another show called Girl Gamer Gauntlet with Machinima.com.

Although I do quite a bit, I have not made it. I'm not nearly as active in the community as I want to be. I'm not being paid for 95% of this either. I want to make this my job. Any advice I can give, is to do it. You want to write? Write. Start a blog. Submit resumes. Never fall off the radar. If you are looking to get paid right away, and to one day be rich: pick another career. If this is something you want, then work for it. There are hundreds of people who want this job, you will have to pay your dues too.
